I’m Olive Hui, Pineapple O, a New York City artist representing Bushwick, Asian, non-binary, bald and Gen X humans. I wrote this song All Of Nothing in 2003 when I was in college. It is about young love, self-acceptance and breaking through—this timeless piece of music connects my past (2003), present (2024), future (2046) and all the humans I share this planet with along the way.
Could one person's vulnerability and naiveness become strength and power if they choose to accept their whole self and release the emotions into the world?
PLAY “ALL OF NOTHING” BY OLIVE HUI
Told you I wasn’t normally like that
Honestly I wasn’t mad just a little upset
Borrow your jacket just to smell you
Told you should have told me but you forget
If you understand my tattoo
You will understand me
I did say all or nothing but there’s always something
You know what I mean
Hearing something feeling something
You know I’ll let you set me free
Wanting to get to know everybody on Earth
To hear their stories
It's gross you said
99.9% of people suck
Do I suck no you don't suck
Weird look in your eyes
Wondering why I was so jumpy
On our way to Port Authority
This kind of thing just don’t happen too often to me
They say I’m too naive or too crazy
If we’re on the same page
You’ll know it’s awfully late
I did say all or nothing but there’s always something
You know what I mean
When I said I feel something maybe more than something
Did you believe me
You grabbed my hand and said we have to be spontaneous
Seeing nothing feeling nothing hearing nothing in Spain
All or… all or…nothing but there’s always something
Singing All Of Nothing
Seeing… Feeling… Nothing.
